Rep. Ted Yoho says Social Security Disability reform needed now
Rep. Ted Yoho (R-FL) penned an op-ed in The Hill calling on Congress to tackle the solvency and efficiency of the Social Security Disability Insurance program (SSDI). Yoho calles the program flawed, as nearly 50% of the factors used in determining program eligibility are not medically based and continuing disability reviews are not regularly conducted. This year’s Social Security Trustees report estimates the SSDI trust fund will be depleted by 2054. Yoho is introducing the Making DI Work for all Americans Act which will make key reforms to SSDI that target the efficiency and long-term solvency of the program, while not changing the benefits current recipients receive.
