Claiming your Social Security benefit early (before your full retirement age) can have a pretty significant impact on the amount of your monthly check. Indeed, your benefit at age 62 can be up to 30% less than it would be at your full retirement age (FRA). True, there may have been good reasons why you claimed early, but sometimes things change. For example, if you claimed after losing a job and then later found other employment, you may regret that you claimed. Or, you may simply have reached a point where you lament your smaller benefit and simply want to make it bigger.
