SSA–Keeping You Safe from the Antics of Advertisers and Scammers
In a post on manisteenews.com, public affairs specialist for west Michigan Hillary Hatch clarifies the steps that the Social Security Administration takes to protect the public from the scammers and imposters preying on folks dealing with the Social Security program. Specifically, she outlines provisions from Section 1140 of the Social Security Act and the types of criminal activity that can be subject to penalties. In addition, her post presents a number of suggestions for actions that anyone suspecting a fraud situation should take, including the direct address to report potential scams (OIG.1140@ssa.gov).
