Ticket to Work: A Benefit for the Disabled

Enterprise reporter Joelle Jones at KOIN 6 digital news in Portland, Oregon writes on the importance of those drawing Social Security’s disability benefits knowing about the program’s Ticket to Work program. As she explains, “The little-known Social Security Administration program helps people on disability …. return to work without losing their full Social Security benefits while working over a 9-month period.” As noted in Jones’ post, “Diane Winiarski, the director of Vocational Case Management for Allsup Employment Services, said people are not aware of this program or its benefits.” Even though the program has existed since 1999, participation remains low–roughly 30% of Social Security disability beneficiaries are aware of it.
