The Social Security Trustees project the Social Security Trust Fund will deplete its reserves by 2033; upon insolvency, all beneficiaries will face a 21 percent across-the-board benefit cut. The policymakers have only nine years until insolvency and must take action to prevent an across-the-board benefit cut.
One of the solutions that received almost universal disapproval has been cutting Social Security benefits. However, according to a new report from the Program for Public Consultation at the University of Maryland’s School of Public Policy, this may not be the case anymore.
