Memorial Day 2026: Summer Begins, Plans for America 250 Ramp Up - AMAC Foundation

It may be a revered annual tradition, the nation’s largest Memorial Day event, but this year the National Memorial Day Parade in Washington, DC, brings with it a focus on the story of service and sacrifice across our first 250 years. Featuring musical performances and marching bands, uniformed service members and veterans, historical re-enactors and celebrities, and honored families of our fallen, the 2026 edition of this event serves as the beginning of what promises to be a spectacular celebration of America’s 250th Birthday. If you’re fortunate enough to join the parade in person, great! For those who can’t be there, the festivities can be viewed nationwide on local ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox and CW stations.

And while you’re enjoying the celebration, remember that Memorial Day is a federal holiday that celebrates and honors the men and women who died while serving in the U.S. military. It’s also a time to remember friends and family members who are no longer with us, and to express our patriotism and appreciation for the American way of life.

The editorial staff of the AMAC Foundation’s Social Security Report wishes you and your family a peaceful, pleasant, and meaningful Memorial Day Holiday!
