Do women save more than men? - News Nation

Although men have spent more time in the labor force and have more saved in workplace retirement accounts, women tend to contribute a larger share of their paychecks to those plans.  In Vanguard’s recent analysis of nearly 5 million American workers, the average man’s 401(k) balance was $194,597 compared with the average woman’s balance of $146,476. But these balances do not necessarily mean men are better savers. Andrew Dorn, writing News Nation, reports on the findings of Vanguard’s latest How Americans Save report.
