The earliest you can claim Social Security is age 62, but your monthly benefit will be reduced if you claim before your full retirement age (FRA). At your FRA, you receive 100 percent of your calculated benefit. If you delay benefits past your FRA up to age 70, your monthly benefit increases by about 8 percent per year, potentially boosting your payments by up to 24 percent compared to your FRA amount.
