Another Argument for Opting Out of Social Security

The issue of breaking away from Social Security in its present form is not new. It’s been discussed repeatedly through the years and is now resurfacing as the projected full depletion of the program’s financial reserves approaches. The arguments for and against privatization generally focus on market-based return rates versus market-based risks, and have historically landed in favor of the status quo. But it’s a new world economically under the direction of President Trump and, as a forbes.com post by contributor John Tamny suggests, maybe it is time to look beyond the creation of accounting-type fixes and assess the potential for creating “… a path out of the government’s retirement system.” Interesting and thought provoking, for sure.
