Biden Aims to Slash ‘Time Tax’ for Social Security

What’s a “time tax?” In short, it takes a long time to fill out government forms or access federal benefits. Biden’s executive order is a push to make government services more accessible to people. Some of the biggest impacts of the order will be seen by Americans over 65. In addition to a new online tool designed to make claiming Social Security benefits easier, the government will also develop a portal for Medicare recipients to identify ways to save money on drugs and health care. There are also provisions for passports, the IRS calling taxpayers back (rather than waiting on hold), and much more. Full Bloomberg article by Justin Sink and Jennifer Jacobs is here.
