Continued Earnings in Retirement

You do not have to actually be retired to start collecting Social Security benefits. However, there are many reasons you might not want to go this route. You can file for benefits at 62 and continue working, but this would mean that you could put yourself in danger of passing the mark that would allow your benefits to be taxed. By filing early you are also passing p on the opportunity to have larger benefits later. Although it may seem intuitive to wait to collect while you are still working, many still collect early because of the tendency to want to start collecting as soon as one is able to do so.
