Especially for Women: Retirement Planning and Social Security

In this excellent article posted on Social Security’s “blog” website, Cindy Hounsell – President of the Women’s Institute for a Secure Retirement –  explains why women have special circumstances which affect their retirement. About 67% of Americans over the age of 85 are women who may be at risk of falling into poverty because they have lost a spouse (and thus part of their income), because their benefit payment is lower than average, or because they have exhausted their financial resources.
