Healthcare costs after retirement can eat a very sizable portion of your retirement savings. The average retired couple, for example, will need about $300.000 to cover healthcare costs as they age, even taking Medicare into account, so planning ahead is essential. Fortunately, there are ways to manage retirement healthcare expenses by properly planning ahead for what may be inevitable, such as the need for long-term care (about 70% of people over age 65 will require at least some long-term care).
