High dependency on Social Security means Congress must act soon

You’ll get little argument from America’s seniors that Social Security is one of the most important programs in the country; one that is preventing many older folks from falling into poverty. Why then, with so many so dependent on the program, doesn’t Congress act to fix the program’s ills, avoid draining the Trust Fund, and prevent the benefit cuts that will occur in about 17 years if nothing is done. As this Sean Williams article at Yahoo! Finance explains, so many seniors rely on their Social Security benefits to exist that it’s time for Congress to stop kicking the can down the road and act.

AMAC has been at the forefront trying to strengthen Social Security by developing and proposing its Social Security Guarantee.  AMAC has been discussing and continues to discuss this common-sense solution with Congressional Representatives in its efforts to protect America’s senior citizens who rely on Social Security.  To review AMAC’s Social Security Guarantee, click here.
