Women have different retirement planning needs than men.

What with most women taking at least some years off for family needs and the well known gender pay gap, the retirement planning needs of America’s women are much different than those of America’s men. Women tend to have worked fewer years at less pay, plus they tend to live longer which means their retirement savings will need to last longer.
