Administering Social Security: A Conversation with Mark Warshawsky and Andrew Saul

American Enterprise Institute recently announced an upcoming event, Administering Social Security: A Conversation with Mark Warshawsky and Andrew Saul

Event Date: Thursday, October 6, 2022 | 4:00 PM to 5:15 PM ET

Former Social Security Commissioner Andrew Saul joins Mark Warshawsky, AEI Searle Fellow and former deputy commissioner for retirement and disability policy at the Social Security Administration, to discuss the past, present, and future of the agency. The conversation, moderated by AEI President Robert Doar, will begin with a discussion of Mr. Saul and Dr. Warshawsky’s accomplishments while at the agency, specifically their efforts to improve the experience of beneficiaries and modernize agency regulations.

They will then discuss structural impediments to progress in the administration, which will likely hamper present and future efforts, including efforts to restart service after COVID-19-related closures. Finally, Mr. Saul will speak about his termination as commissioner, an action taken by the Biden administration 2.5 years into his six-year term, and the precedent that decision set.

If you are unable to attend, we welcome you to watch the event live on this page. After the event concludes, a full video will be posted within 24 hours.
