SSA takes action to protect visitors in extreme heat

Acting Social Security Commissioner Kilolo Kijakazi, responding to an August 16 request from Ways and Means Republican Leader Rep. Kevin Brady (R-TX) and Chairman Rep. Richard E. Neal (D-MA), has issued precautionary guidelines to protect the health and safety of visitors waiting in lines outside Social Security offices. Click here to read a Ways and Means recap of the guidelines.

Also, if you’d prefer to avoid visiting SSA offices, note that the AMAC Foundation offers a free-to-the-public advisory service to all folks ageing into–or already in–Social Security. This service provides guidance in understanding the complexities of Social Security and the myriad rules and regulations associated with the process for claiming benefits, with NSSA-Certified Social Security Advisors available via email or telephone to discuss options.
