Public Anxiety for Social Security Solvency is Growing

According to a recent study by Transamerica Center for Retirement Studies, most Americans view the need for Congressional attention to Social Security’s rapidly deteriorating financial situation as a top priority. Specifically, the survey of 10,000+ U.S. residents age 18 and older assessed “Address Social Security’s funding shortfalls to ensure it can pay guaranteed benefits to future generations of retirees” as a top priority, with a similar concern for Medicare funding shortfalls close behind. We view this as an indication that public awareness of the problem is building and will likely turn up the heat on the 119th Congress and the next Presidential Administration to take action.
