Q & A
How can I get a form SSA-1099/1042S, Social Security Benefit Statement?
Answer: If you get Social Security benefits, (Social Security) mails Form SSA-1099 to you each January. It shows your total benefits for the previous year. If you are a noncitizen who lives outside of the United States and you got or repaid Social Security benefits last year, (Social Security) will send you Form SSA-1042S instead.
To get a replacement form:
- Request an SSA-1099/1042S for Tax Information;
- Call us at 1-800-772-1213 (TTY 1-800-325-0778), Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.; or
- Contact your local Social Security office.

Shirley:
As explained in the article, you’ll need to contact the Social Security Administration to receive these forms. We are not affiliated with the SSA or any other governmental agencies.
