Immigration Reform 2015 – News Updates: IRS Defends President’s Order on Tax Returns for Undocumented Immigrants

Undocumented immigrants living in the United States may be eligible for a tax return under President Obama’s executive order granting Social Security numbers to some five million individuals. The plan, which the President proposed last November, allows for work permits and temporarily staves off deportation for those brought before the age of 16. Because of their newly-received residency, immigrants can claim up to three years in back taxes, totaling roughly $1.7 billion over the next three years. Read more…
