Medicare boosts reimbursement rates; good news for insurers - Reuters
Shares for U.S. health insurers went up on the stock market yesterday, based on an announcement by the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) that they will raise reimbursement rates for Medicare Advantage plans starting in 2026. This is good news for providers of Medicare Advantage plans, who were expecting only a 2.2% increase, versus the 5.1% increase actually announced. These insurers experienced a difficult year in 2024 due to high healthcare costs, low government reimbursement rates, and public backlash after the murder of Untied Healthcare’s CEO.
