Medicare changes in the “one big beautiful bill” - nasdaq.com

While it isn’t yet approved by the U.S. Senate, the much heralded “one big beautiful bill” (2025 H.R.1), in its current form, provides some significant improvements for the nation’s Medicare program. Specifically the bill:

** Relaxes current restrictions limiting Health Savings Accounts (HSAs)

** Expands and facilitates designations for Rural Emergency Hospitals (REHs)

** Restricts Medicare benefits to only American citizens or those “legally present” in the U.S.

** Provides funding to use AI to discover Medicare fraud or overpayments

Of course, as deliberations in the U.S. Senate on H.R.1 proceed, changes to the bill are almost inevitable. However the above reforms to Medicare seem like “common sense” adaptations of America’s most important healthcare program, as discussed in this nasdaq.com article by Motley Fool’s Kailey Hagan.
