Millions Still Waiting for Their Stimulus Payment
According to the IRS, they have already processed about 130 million of the total 150 million stimulus payments, so a large percentage of those eligible have already received their economic relief. But those payments, ranging up to $1200 for an individual and $2400 for a married couple (with an additional $500 for each child under 17), are still not in the hands of about 20 million Americans, many of whom are among the most needy. According to the IRS, they are working with the Social Security Administration to get the information needed to pay SS beneficiaries who do not have direct deposit information on file with the IRS, but those SS beneficiaries seem to be among the ones who have not yet received their stimulus payment. And since you cannot call the IRS to find out the status of your payment, many are left to wonder if they’ve somehow been missed. All of this is discussed in a FOX6NOW article by Jenna Sachs, including that the IRS is reactivating “several thousand” employees so they can start taking phone calls, but no timeline is in place for when that will happen.
