More on the “Retirement Savings Dilemma”

Eric Galatas of the Nebraska News Connection, in a post on norfolkdailynews.com, notes that “Nearly half of U.S. families have no retirement savings, according to a new Economic Policy Institute report.” He further notes that “And the median balance for families that do have savings is far from what they’ll need.” Galatas’ article conveys a series of interesting points on the savings crisis raised by Monique Morrissey of the Economic Policy Institute, one of which is her belief that, contrary to modern pundits, Social Security was in fact designed to be a retirement plan.
