Nationwide Retirement Institute’s 10th Annual Social Security Survey–The Good & Bad News

The 2023 edition of Nationwide’s annual survey produced some striking differences of opinion regarding the viability of Social Security, with 40% of the more than 1800 respondents saying they’re very confident (or at least confident) about the program’s staying power at least in some form. Conversely, 75% expressed concerns about the program’s solvency. Putting a finer point on the doubts, 82% expressed interest in getting advice on ways to maximize their benefits, an idea highlighted by less than 10% being able to correctly identify the factors that would enable them to accomplish that. Overall, somewhat of a mixed bag. Thinkadvisor’s John Manganaro offers thoughts on the survey results here, and you can access the survey results here.
