New Social Security Online Account is Easier to Use - Social Security Administration

In a continuing effort to provide enhanced online services, the Social Security Administration has announced that they have updated the “my Social Security” account homepage to facilitate access to your personal Social Security information. The new format makes it easier to find those things you might normally need, offering fast and easy navigation to specific functions. All of which is designed to enhance your online experience with Social Security.

You can see details of your monthly payment along with a history of past payments, your lifetime earnings record, and also have fast access to things you might need to do – such as getting a replacement Social Security card, changing your payment deposit destination, changing your mailing address, and identifying in advance a representative payee in the even you become unable to handle your own financial affairs. For those not yet collecting benefits, you can see your estimated benefit amounts at different ages, which will help you decide when to claim. And, you will be able to fill out and submit your application for Social Security benefits using a link directly from your personal online account. All of this is explained in Social Security’s recent announcement of the new homepage, which can be found here.

Also, if you’re unsure about how these basics apply to you, or if you have any questions about your individual situation under Social Security, note that the AMAC Foundation provides a free-to-the-public advisory service to help Americans navigate the complexities of this program. All questions are answered quickly, at no charge.  Learn more about it here…
