The population of seniors in this country just keeps Booming. In 2013, people of the age 65 and older made up 14.1% of the total population, this is expected to grow to 21.7% by 2040. This information goes a long way to help those brainstorming policy ideas related to retirement and Social Security as it tells us how many people are expected to reach the age of qualifying for benefits in the coming years. This goes hand in hand with the solvency dilemma and makes predictions in that area more accurate, lending credence to the urgency of the problem that has sat on the back burner for far too long.
