One of the Least Understood Pieces of the Social Security Puzzle

AMAC Foundation’s Social Security Advisory Service has to-date helped well over 7,000 folks nationwide navigate Social Security’s intricate and detailed maze of rules and regulations. The questions are wide-ranging, and often get into deep research about how these rules apply to individual situations. But often the contacts we get focus on some really basic areas, like “Exactly how is my benefit determined?” We stress that the formula used sounds rather complicated, but it really isn’t, and after we explain it, our callers have a much clearer picture of where the bottom-line number came from.
