Retirement savings back-up plan: Work another “gig”

It’s pretty well known that America has a retirement crisis – far too many people aren’t saving, or haven’t saved, enough money to give them a comfortable, stress free retirement. So what is the backup plan for those whose savings are far too low?  According to this CBS MoneyWatch article by Kathy Kristoff, the answer is to find a “side gig” to give you the extra income you need to shore up your retirement nest egg. And that doesn’t only apply to those in the early or middle phases of their careers, as many older Americans have no intention of completely retiring when they reach their normal retirement age but rather plan to continue working a side gig for extra income.
