Seniors a prime target for scammers; here’s how you can help

After the massive Equifax data breach on top of so many others, seniors have increasingly become a prime target for criminals who will use ever more inventive techniques to separate senior citizens from their money.  The majority of scams originate from a telephone call, but over 20% start online, according to a recent survey by the Cooperative Credit Union Association.  And if you’re a caregiver to an elder relative, you can take action now to reduce that person’s vulnerability to scammers.  This article by Michelle Singletary appears in The Washington Post and discusses the increased fraud risk faced by seniors and what you can do to help lower that risk.  Click here to read more.
