Social Security and America’s Debt

Almost every discussion on the economy of America boils down in to a tirade about the immense amount of debt that the nation has and continues to accrue. Currently, America’s national debt is pegged at $19.2 trillion. In order to completely absolve this amount, every citizen would have to fork over to the tune of $60,000. However, this figure does not take in to account state and local debt nor corporate debt. Adding this in would put the figure closer to $49 trillion. There are many ways to look at this growing problem, there are many doomsayers just as there are many proponents to the system. It is a very complicated problem that does not have any definitive solution, but that does not mean that it cannot be improved upon incrementally.
