Social Security Customer Service Update: Actions You Can Take Online

Facing continued staffing shortages and a growing need for improved customer contact, the Social Security Administration is making strides in its online “self-help” features. Tasks that previously were handled through on-site, in-person contact are steadily being made available for website completion, and five of these are described in a post by Montgomery Advisor’s Kylle’ D. McKinney on USAToday. For example, the act of filing for retirement or spousal benefits is one of the more common tasks, as are applications for disability benefits and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits. Applying for Medicare coverage and additional help with prescription drug costs are also covered in this article, with each of the tasks accompanied by a link to the website for further information.
