Social Security Disability Benefits
The Disability aspect of the Social Security System is expected to run out of funding a full decade before the retirement aspect in 2022. This is the reason that there was recently a cut in benefits payed out by 19% to 11 million recipients. Fraud is a big problem in this system and is a constant drain on resources. Because it covers a wider range of cases than Social Security does, it is much harder to come up with a fix to the problem. There are many shortcomings in this system and most do not have easy fixes that would not harm those that are on disability for legitimate reasons.
