Social Security Fraud on the Upswing in 2022

Officials in several areas of the country are sounding the alarm on illegal situations involving Social Security, with an article by National Interest technology writer Stephen Silver noting, in a post on their website, “A new year has meant plenty of arrests and indictments for Social Security fraud and similar crimes.” The cases involve theft of benefits and fraudulent access to unemployment funds, laundering money through gift-card schemes, and abuses of housing assistance funds via fraudulent access.
