Social Security is vitally important to women

Nearly 55 percent of the people receiving Social Security benefits are women. More women work, pay Social Security taxes, and earn credit toward monthly retirement income than at any other time in our nation’s history. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, in the beginning of 2020, women held the majority (50.04 percent) of jobs for the first time in almost a decade.  However, women may reach retirement with smaller pensions and other assets compared to men and this why Social Security is vitally important to women.
