Social Security Loses Its No. 1 Spot in the Rack-Up of Federal Spending - tradingview.com
Although it wasn’t considered a “badge of honor,” Social Security has been at the top of the federal line-item spending list, with about $1.7 trillion paid out annually. That position is projected to change next year, when interest on the national debt passes it, according to best-selling author and SchiffSovereign.com Founder Peter Schiff. In a post tradingview.com, Schiff reports “A few months ago interest on the national debt passed defense. Now it’s 40% higher. Next year it passes Social Security. The biggest line in the budget is the one nobody voted for.”
