Social Security Resources for Homeless People - Social Security Administration
The Social Security Administration is one of nineteen federal agencies which participates in the U.S. Interagency Council on Homelessness, whose mission is to prevent and end homelessness in America. Unfortunately, homelessness is a substantial problem in America affecting those in just about all walks of life, including military veterans, certain youths, and those exiting incarceration. Social Security provides disability services (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) services to help combat this national problem, as reflected in this Social Security Matters article by BJ Barrett, Acting Deputy Associate Commissioner.
The article offers a unique Social Security webpage for those who are experiencing homelessness, and those who are providing the homeless with assistance. There are links to housing assistance programs and to organizations which can help with applying for Social Security Disability (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits. And there are special resources for organizations and individuals who provide assistance to the homeless. All of this is explained in this article about how Social Security can assist with combatting homelessness.
I would like more information about a place to live immediately as my husband and I have recently become homeless.

The article on which you’re commenting was updated recently, so you may want to check some of the links and references included in it. Specifically, you might want to check out this website: https://www.ssa.gov/homelessness…it’s title is “People Experiencing Homelessness and Their Service Providers,” and it includes a reference to the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development Continuum of Care (CoC). This service can link you to a service focused on “community-wide commitment with the goal of ending homelessness.”
We wish you well in your search.
