Speculation about COLA for 2025 - Yahoo! Finance
Admittedly, it’s way too early to say with certainty what next year’s Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA) for Social Security will be. COLA is, after all, based on inflation as measured in the 3rd quarter (July – September) of each year. But there are those who love to speculate, even early in the year, considering actual inflation each month in the year. That is what this Yahoo! Finance article does, based on the latest forecast by The Senior Citizens League, suggesting that the 2025 COLA increase will almost certainly be less than the previous two years, and likely even less than the average 2.6% for the past 20 years.
