Struggling on Social Security, retirees take part-time work

One of the most common reasons York County residents say they are working past the traditional retirement age is to maximize their Social Security benefits. Technically, workers can retire at 62 and receive Social Security. “But there’s not much of a payout,” said William Sholly, an analyst with the Pennsylvania Department of Labor & Industry.
