The number of borrowers over the age of 60 with student loan debt has ballooned to over 2.8 million, a quadruple increase over the 2005-2015 period. This, coupled with the already-identified issue of widespread retirement savings deficiencies, presents a serious challenge to an aging population, and these problems are magnified by declining income levels faced by many in this situation.
