The Changing Social Security Landscape (At Least So Far this Year)

No matter the news service you follow to stay current, you’ve seen a steady stream of updates, warnings, and forecasts about Social Security changes unfolding under the Trump Administration. Some of the rhetoric addresses the President’s plans to fulfill the campaign promises last year (e.g., exempting Social Security benefits from federal income tax, eliminating the tax on tips, etc.), while others focus on staffing and organizational changes in the Social Security Administration’s operational environment. So, although some of the planned changes are subject to the congressional timetable, others can–and are–happening now.
