The Future of Social Security

There are many proposals floating around that promise to fix the solvency problem faced by Social Security, and each candidate is touting their own plan as part of their platform. All of these plans come with their own pros and cons and it is important to know the ins and outs of these proposals before they make it to the final stage. Currently embedded in these proposals are plans to raise the retirement age, lower benefits, raise taxes, and many more confusing and roundabout ways to “fix” the system. The only constant among these plans is that none of them are a quick fix, Social Security will remain a cornerstone for ensuring the retirement of seniors for the foreseeable future no matter what changes end up being made.
