The Importance of Getting Social Security Guidance

As documented in a post by Investment News Contributing Editor Mary Beth Franklin, the volume of retirements has recently blossomed, outpacing the rate of retirements seen in the period following the Great Recession through the pre-pandemic era of 2019by a wide margin. As a result, she notes, there has been a surge in demand for guidance and direction from the professional advisor community. In addition to discussing the various automated tools used by the financial community to provide assistance, Ms. Franklin’s article touches on the newly redesigned benefit statement made available from the Social Security Administration, as well as on the statements accompanying the new statement. While we’re on this subject, note that the AMAC Foundation Social Security Advisor Services has seen similar increases in demand for answers to questions about this critical program. As an example of this growth, the AMAC Foundation service answered 10,000 calls for help in the 4.5 years following its 2016 launch, and then added another 10,000 in the year and a half going back to early 2020. With seven Advisors on hand to handle email, telephone, and walk-in inquiries, the service has grown rapidly in popularity and is expected to continue to grow in the months and years ahead. One of the more popular aspects of the AMAC Foundation service is its no-fee structure–the Foundation is a non-profit and does not charge for the services it provides.
