The Social Security Trustee’s Annual Report – Habitually Late

Although the Social Security Act requires that Trustees of Social Security provide a report on the program’s health annually by April 1st, the last time the report was issued on time was in 2008. Here we are in July of 2021, and many are anxious to find out how COVID-19 has affected America’s premier retirement program, yet there is still no word on when we will get the report now more than 3 months overdue. This Motley Fool article by Dan Caplinger laments the habitual lateness of the Trustees’ Report, and the apparent failure of Congress to insist the report be issued on time, as required by law.
