A far better approach to deciding when to file for your Social Security benefit is to take a really good look at your personal situation to see if it makes sense for you as an individual. If you’re in good health, working and aren’t badly in need of the extra money, then waiting to claim benefits is usually the better choice because your benefit will be more.
