Women and retirement savings - USA Today

At the end of 2022, the average monthly benefit check for a retired woman was $1,638 compared to $2020 for a retired man, according to a report from the Social Security Administration. Why? Women tend to earn less than men, and women spend more time out of the workforce caring for children and aging parents. With women spending more time out of the workforce, they will have less time to build a comfortable retirement nest egg. Daniel de Vise explains why saving for retirement is more difficult for women.
