Worried About Social Security in Your Future? Mistakes to Avoid

As noted in an article posted today by The Motley Fool’s Selena Maranjian on their site, many Americans are worried about the health of our country’s Social Security system, and rightfully so. Ms. Maranjian acknowledges the worries, and offers conjecture on three specific areas where missteps can be avoided to help ensure your future benefits. While the first two are tactical in nature–the decision on when to begin benefits and the point of making sure your FICA tax contributions are reported in full–the third is broader–getting a better understanding of Social Security’s rules and regulations so that you can make informed decisions. This latter point is particularly striking to us at the AMAC Foundation, where our trained and certified Advisors work constantly to answer questions from the public–a public often desperate for guidance in this massive program.

Read Ms. Maranjian’a post here, and then take a look at the Foundation’s Social Security Advisory Service. It’s a highly-acclaimed free-to-the-public service serving more than 300 seniors each month.
