In light of the recent report showing how inadequately employees advise claimants, many are wondering where the best place would be to go for information regarding Social Security. Carolyn Colvin, the acting commissioner for Social Security, says the official website is the best source of information and should be visited before calling or visiting a field office. Colvin says that in the millions of transactions that their employees conduct each year that some information is going to slip through the cracks due to human error and the best course of action would be to do self-research before making a call.
