House Budget Resolution for FY 2016 Strengthens Social Security and Medicare, says AMAC
‘It paves the way for a “more efficient, effective and accountable” government’
WASHINGTON, DC, Mar 18 – The House Budget Committee’s FY 2016 budget resolution, A Balanced Budget for a Stronger America, is a responsible step in the right direction, according to Dan Weber, president of the Association of Mature American Citizens.
“Today, our country faces significant fiscal challenges that if neglected, will continue to threaten America’s economic and financial security. For this reason, it is imperative that lawmakers put forth policies that promise to deliver real results to citizens and ensure a more prosperous future,” Weber said.
Mature Americans and seniors agree that spending in Washington is out of control and government has grown too big, he explained. “While hardworking Americans strive to live within their means and balance their budgets, Washington refuses to abide by the same rules. By cutting federal spending and paying down the national debt – all without raising taxes – this budget paves the way for a government that is more efficient, effective and accountable to the people it represents and serves.”
Weber said that the budget resolution not only promotes healthy economic policies and reduces federal spending, it also provides a path forward to save and strengthen vital programs like Social Security and Medicare.
“While these important senior programs face uncertain futures, this budget compels Congress to adopt long-term legislative solutions that will guarantee Social Security and Medicare benefits for today’s seniors and tomorrow’s retirees.”
AMAC commended Chairman Price and the House Budget Committee “for their commitment to tackling America’s challenges and presenting a blueprint that can guide future discussions on these issues. We look forward to achieving solutions on behalf of our senior citizens and working together to help all Americans live more prosperous, fulfilling lives.”
