Dependent grandchildren may get Social Security
Probably at least partially a result of America’s opioid crisis, more and more grandparents are finding themselves in a position of providing care and financial support for their minor grandchildren. For many senior grandparents who find themselves in that position, that means considerable added expense, putting their retirement plans in disarray and draining the savings they so carefully accumulated to fund their golden years. Although the rules are very stringent, Social Security may be able to provide some relief in such cases by paying benefits on behalf of minor dependent grandchildren.
